Seriously?

So... I got this back in the mail today:
It was my check and bill to Dish Network.

Apparently, the mail system and my bill had a fight, and the mail system won.
Nice that the part with my signature was torn off so perfectly eh?

Well, Since my bill was now two weeks late, I decided to call Dish Network to let them know about this little mishap that was not my fault, and that I had indeed sent the check on time. I didn't want to get a late charge.
So I call the number, and listen patiently while trying to find out which number to push. There wasn't any choices for "Mail system eating your bill", so I finally decide to just push "0" To talk to the operator so that I could explain my situation...

I was then told that there was a $5.00 charge to talk to the operator.
$5.00!
What... our society is so lazy that we get charged to talk to an actual human now?
Seriously??
The future generations have my pity...

Egads! That's nuts! I especially hate it when you get an automated system and every time you push "0" it just says "This is not an option" in a really chastising voice. :(

That is really amazing! What "customer service" I really was so blown away reading your post! Wow! I would file a complaint!

This has happened to me too! (The mail thing) I find it so ironic that the cover says "WE CARE". I can't believe they charged you $5 just to talk to a human being!

Do you have the monthly insurance on your equipment? Yeah, it is $5 a month, but then when you've got issues (dish, remote, customer service) they don't change you anything else.

That is SO ridiculous!

So, funny that they sent that to you in a "we care" envelope. I got the same thing when a piece of my mail caught on FIRE in the delivery truck! DUH!

That is crazy!! You better try again because I just called them today and after I chose a couple of automated choices I pressed 0 and I got a girl right away with no charge! But seriously what is our work coming to??

Man, that really stinks. Charging $5 to talk to a person in ridiculous. We got a wedding announcement in the mail like that once, we only got to see half of the grooms face.
