Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!! I wasn't going to post until tonight because I made a big St. Patrick's Day dinner and was going to post pictures... but then I sat down to post and realized I didn't take any pictures! What a bummer... Oh well. For dinner I made
Green Jello (How could you not, seeing as we're in Utah), a
green salad, bread sticks with
green parley and basil on the top, and pasta with
green Alfredo sauce or pesto sauce (you could choose). We also had sprite or
green milk to drink, and
green mint chocolate chip ice-cream. Mmmmm...
For family night, we also talked about how we can "
Go Green and save Green"... Meaning ways we can help the environment, and also save money, electricity, etc. I'm not a "tree-hugger" by any means, but I do think there are a lot of simple ways that you can help out. For example:
*Riding your bike somewhere close instead of driving- saves gas,
and gets you some exercise.
*Buy used- We talked about how how many things get
thrown away when they are still good.
*Buy local- reduces traveling by trucks, and
helps the community.
*Change the Thermostat- just by putting it down a few degrees in the winter and up a few in the summer saves you energy and money.
*Unplug the things you aren't using- it's surprising how much energy goes into the toaster when it's plugged in, even if it's not on!
*Laundry- Wash in cold water
*Lighting- Change your normal lightbulbs to low-energy
compact fluorescent bulbs.
*Use a filter instead of bottled water- Did you know that it takes
3 liters of water to make 1 liter of bottled water?
I learned that from Parenting Magazine.
Anyway- There are a lot more ways to help out of course- but these are just a few. It was a fun family night with the Blodgetts.
Also- This weekend was an exciting weekend! Jeff's brother Steve got married to Lindsey Johnson. They have been dating for a year and a half... and the whole family was so excited to finally have her in the family. They fit really well together and look great together too! It was a busy weekend, but worth it... besides for the fact that Dallin was sick. We drove to Cedar on Friday and they had their open-house that evening. After it was over, we drove to St. George and stayed at my sister's house. In the morning, she watched Dallin while we went to the sealing, and then we all went to the luncheon in Washington. Then we all drove back to Cedar and took a half hour break getting things together. Then up to Salt Lake for the reception at the Lion House. CRAZY driving schedule, but it was a lot of fun. I'm glad we were able to go. The open house and the Lion House were both beautiful. There was a little bit of nervousness on their end, but everything turned out great. Here's a few pictures of the wedding.
Congrats Steve and Lindsey!!
