2 1/2 weeks!

*Warning... Proud Mommy ahead...Picture and info overload. :)*

Well... Sorry it's taken me so long to update. I've gotten a few "hate calls" telling to I need to get on the ball :) haha... I have found though that my usual "Me" time I used to have is almost completely nonexistent now-a-days. Hopefully life will get more into a schedule in the next couple weeks... It's all worth it though. :) We love our beautiful baby girl so much!!

Ok... DETAILS DETAILS! :)...

Jeff and I went into St. George on the 4th to go to the doctor and found that I was a 3 and 70% effaced, and having irregular contractions... But still wasn't kicking into full labor. Since I live two hours away from the hospital, my doctor said he felt more comfortable about inducing me that next day then having me drive through Zion in labor... (Which was totally fine with me!) :)
The hospital said that they would call anywhere between 5 and 6 am to have me come in. So Jeff and I woke up, got ready to go the hospital... and than waited... forever! :) I was actually having contractions pretty regular by this point... So By the time they called at 9:30- I was pretty excited to get down there!

Before we left for the hospital:

I got in at 10:00 and they started me on the pit. Sheesh... That stuff is not very fun! :) My contractions were so hard already! I wasn't really making that much progress (Still just a 4 at 2:00). So I opted for another epidural- which I almost had a mental breakdown over. They freak me out so bad! I asked him to give me the lowest possible dose, and he just kind of laughed at me and told me that he hated to do that because he would just be back later... But I hate the feeling of being numb- so I told him that was the best option for me.

In between contractions, acting happy... :)

At 3:00 I was a 5, and by 4:00 I was ready to push! (SOOO much faster than Dallin!) Also- by this point- my epidural had warn off a lot, and pretty much the only thing that was really numb was my right leg... but I loved it! It was enough to take the edge off, but I could still feel every contraction pretty strong, so I knew when to push, when to not push (so there was less tearing), and I could feel her coming out. It was perfect!! She came out in a few pushes (They actually told me to stop pushing because the doctor wasn't there yet- so hard!)

But she came out at 4:20 pm... I beautiful little girl with tons of dark hair! I actually started giggling when she came out because she looked so chubby to me compared to Dallin! I couldn't believe she was here! The nurses thought it was funny that I had just had a baby and that I was giggling... but I think I was just on so much of a high! And the labor and delivery was just so great!

During labor, they noticed her heart rate started to drop... Luckily she came out just 45 minutes later... because this is what they found when she came out:

Her cord was in a double pretzel knot! The doctor told us to take a picture of it because it doesn't happen that often without more complications. We were very blessed to have her come out perfect! :)

Brotherly love:

That first night in the hospital, we kind of had a scary experience. I finally got to sleep around 3:30, and she was supposed to wake up at 4:30 to eat... So at 4:05 I kind of stirred, but realized I still had a few more minutes to sleep... But right at that moment, I heard her choking next to me. I jump up and grab her, to find her kicking her head back because she couldn't breathe. I yelled at Jeff and called the nurses... and they rushed her away, saying that it was a "blue baby" alert. Jeff ran down with them, and I was just all alone in the room. Finally, after what felt like forever, a nurse came in to tell me that everything was now ok. She had choked on a bunch of amniotic fluid that wasn't ever sucked out from her. The rest of the day we had to watch her because every time she lay down she would kind of choke. They sucked another 6 ounces out of her before we left too! Kind of scary! But we were very blessed.

At the hospital with Daddy, and Getting ready to come home:

The next few days we stayed at my mom's house in St. George. I was pretty spoiled. :) I love having a mom to make all your meals and bring them to you all perfect on the plate, do 20 loads of laundry a day for you, and give you motherly advice when you're a hormonal mess! :) I love you mom! And thanks for being so amazing!

The next few days we had to get her Bilirubin levels checked a few times, just because she was a little high, and we went to the lactation specialist at the hospital because she was struggling a little bit with nursing... But overall- things were great (especially compared to the experience we had with Dallin that first week)!

Basking in the Sun:

Dallin has been really good. The first few days were definitely adjustment days for him. When she was crying the second day home from the hospital, he came in holding his ears and he said "Awison is too woud! Will you put her back in your tummy now?"... :) But overall he's been so great! He's really cute and loving with her and is always trying to make her happy. He's always telling her: "I'm your brudder! And you're my sistur!", and he tells her "shhh baby" nicely when she's crying.

We Love our baby girl! And I can't believe she's already almost 3 weeks old!! At the same time, it really feels at times like she's been in our family forever! Here's a few more pictures of our sweet girl the last couple weeks:

Thanks My Honey!

I married a wonderful man. He's always so good to talk to about anything. I love that we have such a good relationship that way! Yesterday, we were talking, and I think he could just tell I was tired. So he offered to make dinner for me. I was really happy of course! I offered to run to the store to get milk at least since he was busy mustering up something to eat. When I got home, I walked in to a beautiful table- set with our nice china and crystal, and a candle! Then he topped it off by making a WONDERFUL steak dinner for us. It was so beautiful! Especially since he even did the dishes afterwards too! :) It was the perfect offer of love to me! I love you so much honey! Thank you for a wonderful last minute surprise!

Playdough...

Lately I've been feeling like kind of a failure as a mother. I've had so little energy the last few weeks, that sometimes- it's all I can do to keep up with meals, laundry, dishes... etc. Finding the energy to come up with something creative for Dallin and I to do definitely doesn't make the cut some days. And sadly, I feel like it's one of the most important things for me to do. I know that this isn't super creative, and we've played with play dough many times before... but I've never MADE play dough before! I know... Some of you moms are looking at me with disgust- haha. But I finally decided to make some of it up and make a bunch of different colors. It was fun to have Dallin watch as the colors changed, and actually feel like I made something with him.

I was talking to my friend Lacey and she wanted me to post the recipe. I'm sure there's lots out there, but this is just the one I have- so here it is Lace:
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
4 Tbsp. Cream of Tartar
4 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil
2 cups water
Food Coloring

Spray non-stick coating in pan to make cleaning easier. Mix dry ingredients in a large pan. Add liquid ingredients. Stir over medium heat until dough pulls away from pan. Color may be added with the water or kneaded in after cooking.

I also have a question for everyone. What are some fun creative projects you've done with your kids? I need some easy ones that I can do with Dallin these last couple days I have before the baby is born, and also some for after she's born. I just want to be able to have some quality time with him. Please let me know your ideas!

So 3 1/2 weeks left!!
I've officially made it further than I did with Dallin (He was four weeks early).
So anytime is good now... right? :)

(I know that the longer that they are inside- the better... Don't worry- I'm not trying to induce myself or anything... But I'm SOOO ready to have her out! :)

Happy Valentines!!

We've had such a great weekend! A great weekend home with the Husband and kiddo! :)
First- on Friday- I went down to Jeff's class and hung out with him during lunch and during his class party. The kids are so funny on Valentines day. I love it. I made some sweet rolls for the principal and her secretaries (and also for the ladies I visit teach) This is the recipe I made and they turned out really yummy. I also forgot to take a picture of them before they were all wrapped up- but I made them into little hearts. Instead of rolling them all one way, you roll the two sides into each other and pinch the bottom! Way fun! Dallin also made some little Valentines with me to give to some friends.

The rest of Friday was relaxing and nice. Dallin fell asleep during dinner and slept the rest of the night, so Jeff and I stayed up late and watched two movies together- "Next" and "The Illusionst". "Next"= really cool idea- but the chemistry between Nicholas Cage and Jessica Biel just seemed weird to me... and "The Illusionist"= Jeff and I loved it! Especially the ending!

Saturday- Valentines Day! Jeff made me breakfast in the morning and just did little things all morning to help me out. It was sweet. I don't think he realized how much it meant to me. :) He also got me flowers a few days before... On a day that I really needed it! I'm not really someone that needs flowers all the time... But sometimes- it's just so nice!

After Lunch, we decided to just go on a random drive. We didn't know where we'd end up, but the road ended up taking us to Bryce Canyon area. It was such a beautiful day! And it was so much fun to just be together as a family.

On the way back... Dallin must have too many treats and too many twists and turns, because he ended up throwing up EVERYTHING all over himself, his car seat and the entire seat next to him. We didn't have hardly anything in the car to clean him up, so we tried to keep going for a few minutes to see if the gas station up ahead was open... it was not... But during those few minutes... Dallin thought he'd help himself to some licorice bites he had had in his hand. Jeff and I were laughing so hard. It was so gross! I even took a picture of it, but decided to spare everyone of the nasty puke in the picture. :) We finally just pulled over and did what we could to clean him up. We stripped him down to his diaper and wrapped him up in a blanket in his carseat.... And he was perfectly happy the rest of the way home... :)

We usually go out for dinner on Valentines Day, but this year decided to stay in and have a family party. I was so proud of myself for the pizza I made:

I cut all the toppings into hearts! :) We had little heart Champagne glasses (filled with milk) and watched "Charlie Brown's Valentine" movie together. Then Jeff and I also "Sweet Home Alabama" (Yes- I know we watched a ton of movies this weekend! :) Dallin and I got Jeff a movie and a little card.

Jeff- I love you so much. Thank you for being such a wonderful man. I'm glad you're mine and that I'm yours! Forever! Love you!!

Sweethearts Ball...

We had a great date night last weekend! The stake always hosts a "Sweethearts Ball" for all of the married couples in the area. We always have such a fun time (We've gone the last four years). That morning I had been having some pressure from the baby... and didn't feel the greatest when we got there... But it's amazing what a little swing dancing will do! :) Don't worry- we weren't our crazy selves- doing throws and flips and things... But we did do quite a bit of swingin' and twirlin'. :) Just enough to have a fun time. My friend Ann ended up snapping a few pictures and a short little video.

I'm the activities woman for our ward, so I was in charge of decorating the tables. I didn't get a very good picture of what was all on there, but we had sort of a "Paris" theme with Paris postcards on the table and and Eiffel tower with a couple dancing on the backdrop. It turned out really cute.

Also- Every year, each ward comes up with some kind of entertainment- whether it's a dance, or a song or something. We (Me, Ann, Emily, and Summer) sang "Mr. Sandman" to represent our ward and it ended up pretty good. We started practicing just a week before, and it was pretty hard harmony. We also had Emily's husband Robert, and Summer's husband Vern Brady (Snow Canyon people- he went to our school) play the bass and the guitar while we were singing. So it was a lot to through together with the time we had. I thought we did pretty well! :)
It was an awesome night. :)

Getting Ready Still...

The other night we finally decided it was time to get the crib up for our baby girl, and rearrange the furniture to fit everything in the kids' room. Jeff started getting the crib set up, and Dallin wanted to be right in the action. He quickly got out his "Handy Manny" tool set and started screwing in all the screws for Daddy. He was really cute about it, and was so serious about getting the work done. He kept saying "Come on tools- we have a job to do!" (Like Handy Manny (on Playhouse Disney) says). He definitely is a dependable, helpful little guy. :) I think he's going to be an awesome older brother!

Night With Emma...

A couple of weeks ago, the neighboring town (Glendale) asked me to help them with their Relief Society night. They planned "A Night with Emma Smith" and asked me to be Emma. I was a little intimidated to say the least! :) They asked me to dress up like her, act like her throughout the night during dinner, and then give a little presentation as her. I was so nervous. It's one thing to be on stage as a character and have your lines written out for you, and somebody else to act off of... But it's another when you have to write them out yourself on such an amazing woman, and then be by yourself up on "stage" for over a half an hour, pouring your soul out to other women. I planned for weeks in advance, and still- a few hours before was making changes to the things I wanted to say.
Jeff got home from school that day and I was so nervous (I was sick to top it off and woke up that morning with no voice)... When I saw him walk in I sort of just started crying. At that point, I had no confidence that I was going to be able to pull this off like I wanted to.
Then, Dallin noticed that I was sad, and came up to where I was sitting and asked if I wanted a blessing... :) He got the oil and wanted to put his hands on my head. It was so touching to see this little boy... only two... know what to do. He was so sweet. Jeff and I didn't know what to do... We didn't want to discourage him, and we wanted to let him know that he WAS doing the right thing... but we just didn't know what was ok. Jeff told Dallin that he was going to give me a priesthood blessing and Dallin sat so still the entire time. Afterward, he also asked Jeff if he could get a blessing too. I was so amazed and proud at the faith of my son. :) My little two year old was teaching his mommy how to trust the Lord. :) His little heart helped me set the tone for the rest of the evening...

The night ended up going so well. There were times while I was talking that I sort of felt like Emma was there... showing me what to say. I felt the spirit so much, and hope that the other women did as well. There was one thing that I had wanted to point out though, and didn't ever say... So I wanted to say it on here:
There are so many things said about Emma sometimes- like the fact that she didn't come with the saints to Utah. I didn't really want to go much into these issues, so I took on my character as her a few months after Joseph had been martyred (She was pregnant with their last child together at the time he was killed). But there was one thing that really struck me that I don't think people realize when they say things about her and judge her... Since Emma stayed, her family did as well. They worked the land there, and kept up with many of the buildings that her husband and the church held sacred. If she wouldn't have stayed, those buildings that we now visit on "church tours" wouldn't have most likey been destroyed. By staying, she and her family held on to and preserved a lot of church history for us to now see. I thought that was really interesting to think about...
I learned so much about Emma Smith by doing this and I was so glad the other ward asked me to do it. I have such a stronger testimony of her, her husband- the Prophet- Joseph Smith, and the early saints of the church.

Wonderful Weekend!

This weekend was so wonderful for us! My cute sister Kellie, and her awesome hubby Garrett were sealed in the St. George Temple for Time and all Eternity! I had the honor of being her escort in the temple when she went through for the first time on Friday, and then again during her sealing on Saturday. I really was so excited that she asked me and that I got to share that with her. They were both so ready and seemed so happy!

Kellie also snapped a few of us... although the night before was NOT a good night and I was a little swollen... Oh well... My two boys are cute :)



We spent a lot of time with family the whole weekend, and went to my aunt Katie's for dinner after church on Sunday. My Grandpa and Grandma Hefley were able to come out from California to be at the sealing, and it was so great to see them! We don't get to see them that often, so it was nice to have a wonderful excuse to be with them!

Nesting...

I've been trying to get a few things ready for this little girl before she comes. I'm trying to be a lot more prepared this time, unlike my first time around with Dallin. Dallin came a month early and I had NOTHING ready. So this time, I think I've been a little crazy in trying to get stuff ready to go. I've been trying to sanitize and clean up everything in my house... problem is, I have no energy so it takes forever... I've had her car seat, a few pairs of clothes, blankets, and diapers in the car ready to go for about a month now... and a little suitcase is partially packed for Dallin in case we need to get out the door quick. I've also made 9 meals so far to put in the freezer so all Jeff has to do is heat them up in the oven after the baby is born... I feel like I'm getting there... :) But there's always more to do... Here's a few things I've been working on this last week... Just to keep me busy.

We still need to set up her bassinet and crib and everything, but I finally got her bedding in the mail (from Ebay). This is part of it:

Then I got these little bins from Walmart and made little tags for all of them so I know what's inside. We really don't have room for another dresser in the kiddo's room, so I'm putting all of her clothes under the changing table in these. I still need to glue the daiseys on:

Then I got this little thing of Drawers to put all of her bows/headbands/and whatever other little accessories she has in. I made a little tag for that too:

Anyway... I have a few more projects in mind, and of course I need to finish these... But like I said- I'm getting there... :)

Pudding Painting...

Last week, Dallin and I were trying to find something to do- So I finally decided to buckle down and do something that I've wanted to do with him for a while - Pudding Paint! :)

I made some chocolate pudding, put a little bit in a bowl, and let lose. :) We had a lot of fun... and even more fun eating the rest of the pudding afterward.

Better late than never... Right? I started this post on the first day of the year, and never got around to posting it. 2008 was so great for us.. Just wanted to recap a little bit :)

January- My sister Kellie (and Garrett) had their reception- They're so cute! And she wore my wedding dress :); Cheer took over my life the rest of this month... So glad it's over. :)...
February- Had a HUGE snowfall that made our apple tree fall down; Planned a Secret Valentines Day surprise for Jeff at the high school- chocolate strawberries, a movie I made, lights,etc... It was perfect!; Valentines was also our "Bloody Valentines #2" with Jeff having to go get stitches after cutting his hand open while chopping wood. ("Bloody Valentines #1" was when I forgot to bring a bottle opener, so Jeff had to break open the bottle- resulting in another open wound...); "Dallintine" was what Dallin said all day...
March- Had a great Easter; Got our Tax refund; Steve and Lindsey (Jeff's brother) got married (finally made the plunge!) :); Jeff turned 29! and we had a great date night on the top of Dixie Hill...
April- Dallin's 2nd birthday- Winnie the Pooh Party; We were chaparones at Jr. Prom; State Drama in Nephi- the kids did great!; My family all met together in Springdale and had a really fun day...
May- Got a New Camera- won on Ebay with 2 seconds left!; Jeff's class had their annual field trip to Zion- Dallin developed a crush on Ebbi in Jeff's class; Saw both families on Mothers day, and I made some fun projects for the moms; Went to many graduations; My 22nd birthday! Jeff planned a little party for me here- we went on a date in St. George- and I went to brunch with my mom, brother, and sister...
June- I pulled out half of my Eyelashes with an eyelash curler! (Not a good memory!); We took the kids down to the water park in Kanab a lot; Dallin got his "Big Boy bed"; and he had his first horse ride; My wonderful friend since 2nd grade- Mallory- had her Bridal Shower and Wedding; My Great-Grandma Ilean had her 87th birthday in Pine Valley...
July- 4th- Dallin was Abe Lincoln in the parade; Next day got a POSITIVE on pregnancy test! WOOHOO!; Later that day left for our AWESOME California trip- beach, Calico, Knotts Berry Farm, Long Beach Aquarium, Grandparents, and San Diego Temple; But our van broke down on the way home...; Jeff's Family Reunion on Cedar Mountain; We took Dallin to WALL-E (first movie he sat through in the theater); And he started Swimming lessons...
August- Nate and Monica (Another brother of Jeff's) got married- I made the cake with Laura!; I finally got my Van back after a month of getting fixed!; My friend and I planned an Awesome Secret Luau Date with clues and a scavenger hunt; I made a LOT of Jam; and helped a lot with the Kane County Fair...
September- Bought a lot of Meat- 1/4 of a cow; We went on a random fun date night that happened to end with Swiss Days Fireworks on our way home; Went to Swiss Days in Santa Clara...
October- Watched a great Conference; Enjoyed the beauty of the leaves on Cedar Mountain; Found out we were having a GIRL!; My Dad got married; Had a "Scarecrow Party" with a bunch of our neighbors; Also had a fun Halloween party at our house...
November- My kids performed "Seussical the Musical!" and they did SOOO good :); I got to enjoy being home finally!; Dallin had Pink Eye; Had a fun Thanksgiving at Jeff's parents house- and then our van broke down... again...
December- Went to the annual Tree Lightingceremony in Orderville; Surprised my Mom on her Birthday; Made real Gingerbread houses from scratch (first time!); Played a lot in Snow, Had such a wonderful Christmas! Especially watching Dallin get the concept of Santa, and even more importantly- the Nativity and baby Jesus; Relaxing with the lights of the tree...
